Introducing Our Leak Detection Services

With years of experience and a team of qualified specialists, we are a leading provider of water leak detection solutions across residential, commercial and municipal properties. We utilise a comprehensive range of cutting-edge detection methods to accurately locate hidden leaks in pressurised water systems. Our services are ideal for diagnosing leaks in underground water mains, underfloor heating systems, cold and hot feed plumbing, and central heating circuits. Our leak detection services are fast, effective and minimally disruptive.

Our Leak Detection Techniques

Tracer Gas Leak Detection

This method involves introducing a hydrogen/nitrogen gas mixture into the water system. The gas escapes through the smallest leaks, and we detect its presence using a specialised probe. It’s perfect for internal leak detection and is safe for potable water systems.

Pressure Testing

We use pressure testing to confirm whether a leak exists by measuring pressure drops in isolated sections of the system. It is a crucial first step in leak detection investigations, particularly useful for commissioning new pipework and validating repair success.

Step Testing for Water Mains

Step testing allows us to isolate specific zones of a water distribution network. By monitoring flow and pressure changes in each section, we can narrow down the search area to locate hidden underground leaks with precision.

Acoustic Leak Detection

We use sensitive ground microphones and listening equipment to detect the sound of water escaping under pressure. Our acoustic tools can detect leaks in both metal and plastic pipes, even beneath concrete or asphalt surfaces.

Thermal Imaging

Thermal imaging cameras detect temperature changes caused by leaking water. This non-invasive technology is particularly useful for locating leaks in central heating systems, hot water lines, and underfloor heating networks.

Service CAM with In-Pipe Acoustic & Sonde Detection.

Service CAM is a 14mm diameter camera on the end of 50m of 6mm diameter rigid fibreglass rod. The CCTV head has an in-built FAST Pipe Mic that allows the system to not only see inside the pipe, but to locate leaks as well. The Service CAM has been designed for end-on insertion in service pipes from 25mm in diameter, insertion vertically through a standpipe from an Elster (hockey stick type) meter box, and vertically into small diameter mains from a saddle fitting or through bore hydrant.

Sonde & Tracer Wire Location

Using a sonde or tracer wire, we trace the exact path of pipes and locate buried infrastructure. This ensures that our engineers can detect leaks and access pipework accurately, especially when plans or maps are not available.

The Importance of Expert Leak Detection Services

  • Early Identification
With advanced technology, our services are designed to identify leaks early before they escalate into more serious issues.
  • Minimise Property Damage
By identifying leaks quickly and with precision, we can help to prevent structural damage, mould growth and costly repair work.
  • Minimal Disruption

We use non-invasive methods such as thermal imaging and tracer gas to find leaks without excavation. This ensures minimal disruption to your property or site.

FAQs

What types of leaks can you detect?

We can locate leaks in underground water mains, internal hot and cold feeds, central heating systems, underfloor heating and other pressurised pipework systems.

How do you find leaks without digging up the floor or garden?

We use non-invasive technology such as acoustic sensors, tracer gas, thermal imaging and in-pipe microphones to detect leaks with accuracy.

Do you provide leak detection for both homes and commercial properties?

Yes, we work across domestic, commercial, and public sector buildings, offering tailored solutions for each property type and water system configuration.

How long does a leak detection survey take?

Most surveys are completed within a few hours, depending on the complexity of the system and the nature of the leak. Contact us for a more accurate timeframe.

Will I receive a report after the survey?

Yes. We provide a comprehensive written report outlining our findings, the methods used, any images or readings captured, and professional repair recommendations.

Can you carry out the repairs after detecting the leak?

Absolutely. As a full-service utilities company, we offer complete repair and reinstatement solutions, including excavation, pipe replacement and full reinstatement if required.
